Advanced data and tech capability for UK communities and civil society.
We collaborate with partners to strengthen the collective capacity of communities, civil society and policy actors to tackle complex social challenges, combining frontier AI with community and practitioner expertise.
We work with partners to co-develop AI that helps uncover the root causes of complex,
intersecting social issues for evidence-based strategy and resource allocation. We harness
novel types of big data to measure social conditions that conventional data struggles to
capture, for hyperlocal mapping and monitoring and evaluation. And we build predictive
forecasting systems to equip strategic partners with advanced decision-support and foresight.
01
Mission-Driven
Arcaidium is incubating a public interest programme, Civic AI, to co-develop data and tech that amplifies the impacts of grassroots and policy efforts for human and community rights and strengthens community, civic and democratic infrastructure in the UK.
02
Grassroots Intelligence
Communities and civil society networks best understand the key challenges they face because they sit at the coalface of those challenges. The same people hold essential knowledge and expertise needed to address those issues, but face common and widespread barriers.
03
Collaborative Intelligence
Data and tech are not 'the solution' to human and community rights challenges. But when they are co-developed and deployed in the service of values-aligned, social and organisational relationships, data and tech can amplify, accelerate and transform impact.
04
Expertise
Our expertise lies in novel methods development within AI. We use large-scale, novel, anonymised forms of digital data to understand social challenges that are hard (and expensive) to measure using traditional methods. But our data work is grounded in deep qualitative research that prioritises lived- and frontline expertise.
05
Experience
Our technical development is shaped by an intersectional and systems-informed perspective: We look at how social challenges are interconnected, and identify common drivers to target upstream, structural solutions. We combine decades of academic, mission-driven research with equally extensive cross-sectoral partnership experience.
06
Current Development
We are currently scoping collaboration with communities, civil society organisations, and policy actors in the UK, with evolving development interests spanning mutualism and reciprocal community infrastructure, social movement resourcing and power, tech for trust and social connection, and community-owned, common-good technology.
